Outcome 1 Agrobiodiversity based Livelihoods

 Outcome 1 Agro-Biodiversity Based Livelihoods

Outcome 1:  Options and systems for ABD-based livelihoods are designed, demonstrated and applied by upland farming communities and other stakeholders.

During Phase 1 TABI implemented more than 50 subprojects with a range of partners. These subprojects built experience in ABD related fields such as NTFP management, agro-forestry, eco-tourism, and education. During Phase 2 TABI is  building on this foundation of experience and continues to design, demonstrate, and apply options and systems for agro-biodiversity based livelihoods for upland farming communities and other stakeholders under Outcome 1. The key outputs supporting Outcome 1 are:

  1. Government, civil society, and private sector actors have enhanced capacity to design and implement ABD-based activities;
  2. ABD-based livelihood options are tested, demonstrated, and adopted by participating groups (farmers, communities, private sector, and service deliverers);
  3. Local education systems have incorporated practical, needs-based agro-biodiversity curricula and activities; and
  4. Increased exchange and uptake of ABD-based livelihood options among farmers, communities, private sector, and other stakeholders.

TABI subprojects

TABI is currently implementing a wide range of subprojects to demonstrate options and systems that demonstrate Agro-Biodiversity based livelihoods in Houa Phanh, Luang Prabang and Xieng Khouang. These subprojects span management of natural resources in natural areas such as forests and rivers, domestication and improvement of current agricultural practices, and educational activities.
